Political Blinders

It’s sad to see that the “us vs. them” mentality is so deeply ingrained in some people that they will support a political candidate based solely on the fact that they belong to the party they associate themselves with.  I’m sure most of these people believe that they are supporting their candidate because they agree with their platform and policies, but how can they justify holding on to faith in a politician whose policies are clearly failing (here’s lookin’ at you, Mr. Walker)?  I see this as the result of people being turned into mindless drones by the illusion created by our two-party system that at any given moment in time, we only ever have two political choices, but since one of these choices strays from our ideological comfort zone, we really only have one.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that  I’m sick of the contest between Republican and Democrat.  I wish people in this country would sit for a second and think about shit before blindly ascribing to a certain viewpoint, be it liberal or conservative.  Enough trying to reconcile failed policies just because they’re giving you a little bit of cognitive dissonance.  Learn from them, integrate what you’ve learned, and form a new fucking opinion based on reason, logic, and empirical evidence, not party dogma.

This pontification has been brought upon by my utter disgust with those who still support Scott Walker and his shitty leadership.  Stand with Walker?  Why?  Wisconsin’s job loss is now the highest in the nation.  Or is that not the issue for you?  Do you like it that he’s busting up greedy unions and makin’ those lazy teachers sweat? Maybe it’s his disregard for the once shining beacon of the school system of this state, cause who needs all them liberals thinkin’ they’re so smart, anyway? Or are you really impressed by his ability to hide his big shiny bald spot?  Or maybe it was his decision to deny federal grant money to create that “hippie” high speed rail system that really got you hot and wet.

Whatever.  I’m done.  See you on June 5th.
